I have a Plecostomus that was subjected to high levels of Ammonia and has suffered from burns. The outer skin of the fish has white areas, and after doing research I found that it could end up with an infection so I have put it into a hospital tank and started some Maracyn 2 for precaution. Is there any chance that my fish will make it?

You are treating the fish the best you can. Loricaridae are tough animals, and it's quite possible that it will recover.Clean water and anti-biotics are what it needs most. Pay close attention to water quality and don't feed at all,for a while. Be sure not to use any charcoal in the filter,it will strip out the medication. ---Good luck.---- PeeTee

Ammonia or fin rot, does no longer rather count number, thats one undesirable fish and also you shouldnt be finding out to purchase it from that save. in case you believe the save of poorly treating fish then record them for your community animal welfare team, no matter if you're incorrect do not trouble with the aid of the indisputable fact that's as a lot as them to check out the declare. they'd rather a pretend call than you no longer to record in any respect. A water attempt is the real only way of telling. Does the save have ill tanks? Are their many lifeless fish in tanks? Do the fish have marks and blotches? Do they make undesirable ideas? i'm able to understand you desirous to 'save' some fish yet.... they receives better fish in to interchange it and also you'd be helping the save too. So in reality finding out to purchase from a nasty save will inspire their behaviour, dooming better fish

If your fish is floating to the top and is having a hard time coming back down, he will probably die within the day.
If you can only see ammonia burns and other then that he is doing fine he will definatly live.

If you fillet it immediately, roll it in some corn meal, drop it in a pan of hot grease, and serve it with corn and fries, it should be just fine.
