"okay", "you're excused", etc...
or do you just ignore the person?

I am just asking this as a poll since I often say this and people sometimes don't move or ignore me. It's strange.

I always say, 'Sure'. I think people's responses tend to be different for a number of reasons. I'm from a rural small town area and people are very friendly with each other. Nobody here would ignore you. But I went to grad school in Washington DC and I was always surprized at how cold and distant people treated each other. When I was friendly with people they treated me like they were a little on edge....like they wasn't sure where I was coming from.

People who don't move are very impolite. I would just ask again until they heard me.
