This isn't a stupid question. Anybody seeking the truth and trying to actually learn something can't ask a stupid question. If I remember the book correctly It stated something like you had to be crazy to get of combat but any body that wanted out of combat wasn't crazy because nobody wanted to be in combat. 1. A situation where both choices would have negative impacts on oneself.
2.An excellent and witty book about WWII
3.A extremely awesome ska band.

Came from the movie Catch 22. If he knew he was nuts it proved he wasn't because he was sane because he could realize he was nuts.
Good movie.
Now it means an endless circle of red tape.
