After driving for a little while the battery light will come on but no lights dim and the car seems fine....if you turn the car off and restart it the light is off.....we have noticed that if we drive at night and have the lights on the battery light won't come on.....is it just some freak electrical problem or something else?....it's a 1999 concorde...

Your alternator could be getting ready to quit working, or there's an electrical surge due to the alternator's regulator not functioning correctly, and having the lights on draws enough power from the battery to keep the charge level low enough that the light won't come on showing the problem until after you turn off the lights and the alternator starts overcharging the battery again.

There may be a problem with the electrical system that is intermittent. Get the error codes checked and see if there are any codes stored. This may give you a starting point. Alternator, bad battery, bad ground, or dirty terminals.

Almost certainly the alternator isn't charging or supplying sufficient power. Check the drivebelt tension and look for at least 14.5v at the alternator. (simple, but maybe garage job?). Alternator will recharge the battery, the light will go off, the blowers and the a/c will come on and stay on once SUFFICIENT power is restored/available.

I think that you have an old battery, and it is a maintenance free type, and it is low on water.

Like it was suggested, take your car to the auto parts store, many of them will do free diagnosis.
