It will point towards magnetic north, which is somewhere north of Baffin Island, I believe.

The north pole of the compass will point to the north magnetic pole which is several hundred miles from the north polar axis of the earth. If the needle is free to move, it will tend to point downward. Actually, the compass will probably point unpredictably as the field is strongly affected by solar storms.

Actually if you are standing on the North Magnetic pole it would point down. (Putting the compass on edge allow you to measure your latitude in relation to the magnetic pole.) It might spin slowly. If you were on the true North pole it would point toward Canada.

I believe it would point some where in the vicinity of Greenland where the magnetic flux exits the earth's mantle. There is a difference between true north and magnetic north.
The compass points to magnetic north.Standing in the middle of the United states , true north and the pointer of the compass,is about 8 degrees difference.

It will point vertically downward,its north pole will be at lower end pointing to surface of earth at the true or geographic north pole It may make a small angle with the vertical as the magnetic and geographic poles do not coincide

When you are near the north pole, the needle will generally point down (towards the ground) where the electromagnetic field attracting the needle.

It should point to magnetic north, which is a few degrees off from true north.

Either that or it will simply spin.
