I need to get fired and it needs to be involuntary. I live NYC with a large corporation. I just graduated with by bachelors and they paid $3000.00. Now I have to give them 1 year of my life.

I just got engaged and my fiancee just a great job offer Miami. I can't imagine being away from him for 1 year. According to my employee policy, if I quit, I owe them $3000.00. I don't have the money. But if I am involuntary terminated, I don't owe money.

Would no call no show be considered involuntary termination?

One last thing, a friend of mine did the no called and no show and she wasn't responsible for the 3000.00

Are you sure you don't owe it if you are involuntarily terminated? Most sign-on bonuses and relocation allowances are due in full if you leave your position regardless of whose decision it is for you to leave.

I dont know what the deal is in NY, but in Cali , No call no show is job abondonment which is voluntary termination. I know 3000.00 may seem like alot , but ask if they will do payments or something . Most of the time when employees quit , and take vacation time before they have earned it , the company is willing to work out payment plans. I'm sure your company will do the same. Plus it's always good karma and good business to not burn your bridges. If you ever moved back to NY , you could always go back .

If you are a minor you may not be able to sign a legal binding contract and therefore this will not stand up in court. Check with your local state laws, but as far as I know this is a federal law here. Also realize what you are up against. You will have to go against a hospital which will have on payroll some of best attorneys in town. They have to fight all sorts of people who try to sue them all the time for little things like bandages pulling out eyebrows when removed (Check this out, it was a real case just cannot remember where but was thrown out by the judge for being pretty much stupid) from ligidement claims like infections from improperly cleaned surgical tools. What I'm saying is not that you were not treated unfairly, but that you have a lot to go up against and unless you have a lot of money you probably will not have a chance here. Involuntary would mean you didn't do something to get fired, they laid you off. If you just don't show up, that would be voluntary. Pretty much anything you'd do to get fired would be a voluntary termination. If the company ran into financial hard times and laid you off, that would be involuntary.

Either pay the $3000, or resign yourself to staying at this job for the year.

all I can say Sara is too bad they don't teach good ethics in college!!!!!!!!!!!!!

eat the money or stay in NYC until you have satisfied the debt. You owe, you pay.

You'll be happy you did it the right way.

You can always go and present your case to the employer to see if there is some other option.

The best way to get fired to act like you're the ebst employee and act like you own the place.

If you are constantly late, take long breaks then your deception will be caught. Do it with some arrogance and finesse.

I would just have an attitude problem and be arrogant. Act like you own the place.

Tell the boss you don't like his tone and you can do things better than he.

You better be careful - there can also be other clauses in that hiring agreement, meaning you must work there for X period of time, or if they determine your actions were ones that appeared to force the issue.

You could be in a pickle.
