I do not believe that allowing gays to marry would have any adverse affect on anyone else's marriage and therefore I don't think I'm trying to destroy marriage. The problem that I have is not that people do not want to allow gays to marry, but that they do not want to offer them any of the benefits that marriage offers either. Here in Alaska a law was passed defining marriage as between a man and a woman and the state is using that to say that they do not have to give benefits to the partners of gay employees. I don't think this has as much to do with defending marriage (if you marriage is so sacred that some people are not allowed to have it at all, then why are divorce and adultery legal?) as it does with demonizing something that you don't understand. At least the nutbars who show up at funerals with signs that say "God Hates Fags" are honest about how they feel. If you don't think that gays should be allowed to marry, that's fine, but what is wrong with allowing people to declare any one other person as their domestic partner for the purposes of obtaining benefits that only married people can get otherwise?

Let's see what defines marriage...
2 companies can effect a marriage.
2 hands of cards can effect a marriage.
Funny, there's no man or woman involved in either of these definitions.
Please check out the definitions # 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 on dictionary.com.
Then you can consider yourself more well educated.

Politically, I do not see anything that can come ill from Gay Marriage.
The only place where this is rejected is on a religous basis, probably the idea that they are going against God's wishes (free will). However, it is being more and more noticed that sexual orientation is determined by certain chemical processes within the brain, made during gestation. Thus, God made them gay. If God made them gay, then it must be okay.
Or did He make a mistake?

There was a time that the most fundamental institution of civilization was the Monarchy.
I'd be more concerned with divorce - it is actually the biggest threat to both marriage and civilization as a whole.

Do you know anything at all about history? Or are you just a complete neo-con George Bush fanboi?
Why in the hell do YOU care about what other people do with THEIR lives? Is this that whole, I am a christian and I am entitled to do so attitude? Americans should fear people like you because you are into control. You are into getting in every nook and cranny of their life and telling them about how wrong they are.
I bet you are into controlling free speech and abolishing the Constitution as well.

"Destroy" *and* "redefine"? Well.. which one is it?
Personally, I think straight people are doing a dandy job of destroying marriage all on their own, and certainly don't need any help there. Since I don't care for marriage - gay or straight - this doesn't worry me at all. In fact, I'm a bit concerned that gay people might *save* marriage.

So first you will need to explain exactly how and why gay civil unions destroy marriage? I would think that prostitution, adultery, and divorce are far bigger problems for a heterosexual marriage than gay civil unions, eh?

You know. I'm so sick of you right wingers saying that gay marriage will "weaken the foundation of marriage", "it's a sin", well guess what, so is divorce, but I don't see anyone outlawing that.
