It would make sense because he could retain his weight of 180 pounds, no matter how small he shrunk himself.

He wouldn't be able to hide from the Wolverine no matter how small he got, would he?

Great question! Let’s see. If he reduced his weight to infinitesimally small, Atom could fly along like he was jet-propelled! (Come to think of it, that’s exactly what he would be.)

But we must postulate a limit, a volume within which his shrinking ray works, and beyond which it does not work. (It is made by a man made device and is finite, not infinite. It cannot shrink things or keep them small once they have been shrunk at infinite range.)

Therefore we must suppose that once the gas leaves Atom’s body, it will return to normal, macroscopic size once it has reached a critical distance or passed a certain time limit. I am more inclined to think there would be a distance limit, since his shrinking power is based on his body being enclosed by the suit made of white dwarf star fibers.

Certainly he would be able to hide from Wolverine, though. So what if Wolvie could smell him? He already knows Atom’s in the room somewhere, but he can’t see him!

So Wolvie tries to sniff out Atom’s location, and he accidentally inhales him into his lung with a good deep breath! All Ray Palmer has to do is return to normal size and he bursts out through Wolverine’s rib cage! Note that he does not break the adamantium reinforced bones, but the CARTILAGE is not reinforced with adamantium, and the ribs separate and the lung tissues come apart.

Sure, Wolverine regenerates. But first he passes out from the pain, and by the time he is whole enough to stand again, Atom is long gone.

I’m sorry, I jut have to give this one to Atom. The bigger they are, the harder they fall….

i dont know-even though he retains his weight i imagine his mass is all reduced-and i amagine the gas and his gut would get shrunk down to a really tiny amount, so small you wouldnt smell it.

however maybe if he snuck up right into somebodys nose and let one rip he could make them pass out.

It wouldn't stink unless he is inside your nose.
