i have a aspire 9300 windows xp and im trying to connect to the internet, there is nothing under "lan or high speed internt" souldn't there be some thing there for me to connect to the internet? it use to work like a week ago, since then i formated my hard drive and reinstalled windows, and now i dont have it, i know thats the problam but i cant go back now, so how would i fix this?

Try using windows update and check what it finds to update hardware. It's probably a driver issue and update might find it. If not you can maybe find it at acers site http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/forms/Acer_drivers.cfm
find out what hardware you have from control panel>system>hardware tab then click device manager to identify what you have, then download it from acers site and reboot.

Look for the internet connection wizard and set up a connection.

Try going to the start menu and then clicking on 'Run'.
Then in the box, type "cmd.exe".
it'll bring up MS-DOS.
then type in: ipconfig /release
after that finishes, type: ipconfig /renew
when those are done, type: ping www.google.com
and if it says it's successful, then ur connection should be fixed.

examine your ethernet cable (community cable) and examine both area to be positive its suitable, if its suitable it will be a defective port on the change/hub/router. also the Cable can flow undesirable, it does ensue.
