They aren't BAD for you, but in some religions, they are seen as marking up the beautiful work of God. If your family will ever disown you for it, then you may want to rethink your decision. However, I'm almost 19, with four tattoos. I love every single one of them. Just make sure you plan them out for a long time, because there are some ideas that might seem cool now at 15, but at 21 you'll look at it and say "wow why on earth did I want that?" Go to a good shop, one where the owner doesn't mind you asking questions and will show you their packages of needles, the tattoo machines, the health score, and anything else you want to see beforehand. The needles must always come from a sterilized package, and the tattooist should never touch any of the equipment without gloves on. If the place even seems a tad bit sketchy to you, then don't go. Right now, you want tattoos. Decide what you want and keep a picture of it. In a couple of years, reevaluate your tattoo ideas. If you still want to get them, then do it, and you'll probably love them.

One that had absolutely no meaning to you. meaning, something you got that you just thought was pretty or cool, instead of it having a significant meaning on a great memory, person, or life you wish to obtain. Things like tribal tattoos when you are not of a polynesian/native tribe. Or butterflies when youre not a butterfly enthusiast.
I have a cross which is obviously religious in meaning, and a rams head which in my culture represents wisdom and strength also i was born in the year of the ram (goat, sheep).

A scar will last a life time so anything without a meaning will be along that line

I can tell you from personal experience, "Welcome Aboard" on your junk is the worst tattoo I have. However, I am thinking of getting a life sized tatoo of myself on myself, only taller. and with a bigger Mr. Peepers

someone's name or even your own, cartoon characters, or a pic of someone, tears on the face... oh and any tattoos on the face, neck, or small of back are just plain boring and are by far the tackiest.

Current boyfriend or girlfriend's name.. because once you break up... you have the name on there and it'll just suck to get it taken off, and if you don't your next boyfriend or girlfriend will dump you for that...
