Of course you can break while you have the clutch down. To move a little ahead is to ease off the clutch til you find the friction point do it slowly to move slowly.

Yes you can hold in the clutch while you come to a stop while still in first gear. To advance up to the stop sign after the car in front has gone, you will have to "slip" the clutch which means let out the clutch a little bit enough to engage it and give it a little bit of gas (if you have a tachometer 1500 rpm would be about right for gas pedal pressure) - you need to find the "sweet spot" when you're doing this to make sure you don't give it too much gas and race the engine or too little and stall it - to get it moving then push in the clutch again when you reach the stop sign.

1. Yes, you can apply the brakes with the car in first gear and the clutch depressed.

2. Just ease off on the clutch until the car starts to move up to the stop sign, depress the clutch, and apply the brake to bring the car to a stop.

AS long as you have the clutch in you can sit at the stop sign all day. Move up to the stop sign by taking your foot off the brake and gently let the clutch out, then depress clutch and press down brake.

1. Sure you can as long as the clutch is in.
2. Just let out on the clutch enough to get the car rolling and push the clutch back in to come to a complete stop.

Yes holding in the clutch is fine and to move up a little just ease up on the clutch a little and a little gas and you should move up .

yes you can hold the clutch in and brake to stop it ,then release it a little and move on up closer to the stop sign, its easy once you get used to doing it,but it takes a while to learn to drive a standard shift real good, hope this helps.
