im making a earth and moon model to scale what should i make it out of besides stro-foam

Paper mache!

You can add detail like moutains to the earth and crators on the moon...

Plus, paper mache is fun and it's light-weight. And you get to pain it when you're done and it is relatively cheap to make. Old news paper strips and then some flour and water to make the paste-- it's cheap and fun because it's messy.

Paper Mache is a good medium and will let you build your earth and moon to scale rather easily. Use different sized balloons as a base. Check source for how-to.

A regular 10 inch globe and a baseball are about the right sizes.

You could use two casava melons - which have the advantage that after school you could eat them.
