Do you think women should have a curfew if they are out by themselves at night? (to protect them)?

I believe that if you are in a relationship, that it is a man's responsibility to protect his girl. That is why I think women should have a curfew unless a trusted guy, relative, or their man is there to protect them. Ideally, women shouldn't be out alone after the sun has gone down because that is when crime goes up and visibility goes down. However, in the winter time this might not be practical if she has a job. That is why I suggest someone accompany her to her vehicle and she drives directly home after that. If she is out with girlfriends I think she should be able to stay out til 9:30 since many places close at 9:00 p.m. on weeknights (after 9:00 it becomes more dangerous b/c there are less people to see or report suspicious activity and 30 minutes gives her time to get home). If she is out with a guy, I think she should be able to stay out til whenever he decides to come home since he can protect her. What do you guys think?

somebody should study how ur mind works sandstorm..it has so many defects its quite troubling~in your question you say 'to protect them'..thats not what your trying to say, its really another way to 'control them'..your not smart enough to disguise how disgusting you really are, why dont u just stop~You have become incredibly obsessed with control and dominance because you cant keep a woman thru her own freewill..thats not because the woman had the issues, its because of your unattractive personality and archaic way of non-thinking most certainly naturally repells most women away~

This is not a new system I am of the understanding this type of curfew has been in force in a number of other European countries from what I am told if a youngster is out on the streets after the curfew , they are picked up by Police, the parents are contacted, and told to come to the police STATION right away and explain why their children are breaking curfew if an answer to that question is not acceptable to the police, a Very heavy fine will be imposed on the parents, it works well

I think that's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. I agree with smm1974... When you think about it...men are the problem. Men commit more violent crimes than women. So men should be given a curfew to protect us women....hell why not just get rid of men all together...

You are a naive and stupid person. Do you think any woman on the planet would agree to this? Your implication that I am too stupid to protect myself from the risks of being out a night time is incredibly offensive and annoying. Your suggestion that I should come home when some man tells me to is infuriating. You want to take away my right and my freedom to go out in public when I want to? I am livid!!! As many, many serious crimes are committed in the home by wife-beaters or by people known to the victims I don't really see how this would help that much anyway.

are you freak'in kidding me? i think it's mighty chivalrous of you to want to "protect" women but you think taking away their freedoms and individual rights is the way to go? why don't we get a curfew on the men, since they are the perpetrators of crimes against women. then maybe women won't feel the need to be protected! don't also forget all the violences against women that arise from domestic situations.
