Call and ask for the person who interviewed you. Tell him or her that you are very interested in the position and you were wondering what the status of the hire is. The manager will then give you a response to which you need to prepare for. Regardless of the response thank the person for his/her time and respond appropriately.
IN THE FUTURE: When they ask if you have any questions at the end of an interview, please do the following:
1 - do you know when you will be making a decision?
- how will you be contacting applicants?
2 - may I have your business card?
- the business card allows you to have the name and title of the person you just interviewed with so you can "immediately" send them a thank you letter as a followup to the interview.

2 choices for you. 1: call, say who you are and that you applied last week, then ask if the position is filled yet. If they say no, then you restate that you are still extremely interested in the position and name off the skills and abilities you have that fit the position. Personally, I would also say how if hired, you would give forth 110+%, and that the employer would not be making a bad choice. Remember to thank them for their time and tell them that you'll call back in 2 days to see if they've made up their minds then. 2: Same as above, but in person, dressed for the job. It also doesn't hurt to throw out some company info like: "I know that last year, this company was #2 in total sales worldwide, etc, etc." Check out the company online so you'll be stating facts. Good luck!!

Stop by the store and ask if your application has been reviewed. Tell the person you are enthused about the possibility of the job. Explain to him or her that you would like to start as soon as possible. Good Luck!

Yeah what she said.
More or less call, ask for a store manager. When they pick up the phone say the following.
"Good morning/afternoon/evening Mr./Mrs./Ms. So and So. How are you doing today?"
They reply and will most likely ask you how you are doing.
"I'm doing well, thank you. My name is ____, and I recently filed an application at your store. I was just inquiring into the status of my application."
They tell you either good news or bad news.
Then take it from there.

You have to show him that you are really interested. You could have stopped in before thin and thank him for interviewing you and tell him that you hope he picks you. If you haven't done that yet, do it tomorrow. He will never know that you are really interested unless you tell him.

Hmmm...you already answered your own question, idiot. You want to follow up on the process, which is great...so do that! Call or talk to the manager and ask them what the status of your application is...its just that simple.
