I have a 93 ninja ex250 that will start for a second or two then die out. It has new plugs which are getting spark, new air filter, cleaned the carb, fresh gas and the fuel switch is on. Any ideas?

classic example of a clogged fuel filter, and i'd give that 3-5 odds. drain the tank, unhook the tank and remove the fuel lines to the carbs. the petcock(s) will be held on by 2 screws. they come out very easy. if they're gunked up, replace em and ur in business.

I second the clogged filter. As the bike sits overnight, the dirt settles to the bottom of the filter. Then, as the bikes fires and starts vibrating, the sediment gets stirred up and clogs the filter.
This is how to check the theory. Remove the fuel line where it plugs into the carburetor, open the petcock, and allow gas to flow for at least 20 seconds.

Look in the fuel tank with a flash light. If you can see any rust on the metal ,or any junk floating around, you'll have to clean the carb again and install an in-line fuel filter.
Adjust the valves.

Check your fuel petcock position. Open the choke. Prime the carbs with 2 twists. Close the choke after starting.

If still nothing, spray a little starter fluid in the air intake.

is the engine cold when it stalls? usually for older bikes you have to warm it up first by using the choke. trying doing that and see if it stays on
