When I turn on my lap top i keep getting this message, even before i connect to the internet. What the heck does it mean.

(RTHDPL.EXE Illegal System DLL Rellocation.

The system DLL user 32.dll was relocated in memory. this application will not run properly. the relocation occurred because the DLL C:\windows32\HHCTRL.ock occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.)

Any idea what thats all about. Thanks for any advice and information you can provide.

Common fault relating to realtek audio drivers and a recent XP patch. I had this problem this morning.

Fix here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=74AD4188-3131-429C-8FCB-F7B3B0FD3D86&displaylang=en

Don't listen to people guessing. Check out my link and decide for yourself.

System restore will undo a critical XP update patch. Reformat and re-install Windows will just make the problem come back when all updates are installed.

THIS FIX WORKS!!!

Will not cause any problems except you may have problems with your sound.

If you have automatic updates turned on the problem will solve itself eventually. However this may take a week or two (not sure when this update is launched automatically).

In simple terms download this patch: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=74AD4188-3131-429C-8FCB-F7B3B0FD3D86

Install it (double click), agree to any questions and reboot. All should be well!.

If you have just installed updates from micrsoft that is where the problem is the patch KB925902, goto the microsoft site and search for patch number to get the patch to sort out the patch. If this makes sense.

Good luck

Contact the Vendor as suggested or
Do disk clean up then restart,
Do windows update, anti virus update, firewall update,
spybot etc.
Restart your computer.

If after doing windows update etc you are still having the same problem suggest you restore to a date previous to the time you started getting the message.

It seems like your audio drivers have got corrupted, the best solution is to uninstall your sound drivers re-boot and then re-install them when it asks for the driver disk after re-boot.

To do this, right click "My Computer" select "Properties" select "Hardware" tab, select "Device Manager" button, scroll down to "Sound, Video and Game controllers" click on the "+" sign to expand it, if there is a problem with the Audio drivers then it will show a yellow marker or a red marker here.

Right click the problem one or one's and select "Uninstall" then it will ask you to confirm, click "yes" re-boot then have your drivers disk ready to put in when asked to do so.

why don't you do a system restore on your laptop that would be the most painless way of getting rid of the problem.
