Democrats are pushing for it every minute of every day.

Support the troops in the mission they accepted so we will not have so many there for so long.

I don't know and I hope we don't find out. Military types are resilient. In fact, most military types continued to support President Bush and the War on Terror long after both had been crucified in the media and some still do. However, and this is a pretty big however, they can only take so much. West Point graduates are leaving the service young at the highest rate in 30 years. Today literally thousands of soldiers and families found out THROUGH THE F*CKING TELEVISION SET that all active duty current or impending tours of Iraq and Afghanistan have been extended from 12 months to 15. Even soldiers who understand that there is some reasoning behind this (though it escapes me) are upset about the way the news was delivered. Yeah, that did a lot for morale.

The problem is that states have inadequate resources in case of home emergencies. Not enough people and not enough equipment. Maybe that is the plan. Without troops to defend citizens in each state how easy would it be for the commander-in-chief to send regular army to enforce the martial law Bush will envoke.

Despite what you may think would weaken their spirits, nothing is more draining than the democrats back home not supporting the war effort and constantly doing what they to undermine it.

Militray folk are tough and patriotic. It is the job they signed on for. Besides that, we cant let our pessimistic feelings and the worst people among us in politics dictate defeat to and tell us we cant win or get involved in wars after 1-2 years and the going is rough. Should we have given up 1-2 years after WW2 started when things were tough? Should we allow tyranny to flourish worldwide because we dont have ths stomcah to bear the burden of fighting it?

Whatever it is, the President brought it a little closer today. I think a rip roaring support our troops talking circuit in front of some vets is in order.

we can rotate the troops until helll freezes over.the draft will be in place by 2009 I predict.Iran is the darn problem now.just not enough troops at the ready, for all at once.but if things go as planed,Iraq will be stabilized ,troops rested ,resupplied rotated ,ON TO IRAN...still I see the draft,as things seldom go as planed.cheerio folks

The US military is pretty tough. I wouldn't expect it to break unless asked to do something truely impossible - like fight not one but two simultaneous protracted Vietnam-like wars without the support of Congress or the American people....

...oh, right.
