If you like Sarah Dessen's books then I would go for some of the books by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. In fact they wrote a book together called "Nick and Norahs Infinite Playlist", and i would recommend it to anyone. "Boy Proof" by Cecil Castelucci is great as well, as is "Born Confused" by Tanuja Desai Hidier.
I would also check out www.thisispush.com : it's a site for a great YA publishing company with some very great authors and books. It's worth checking into.

try E. Lockhart or Maureen Johnson. Lockhart's The Boyfriend List is really good and dramatic but its humorous too. I haven't read its sequel The Boy Book but i've hear it was good. Johnson's "13 little blue evelopes" and "devilish" are good and funny too but "devilish" isn't a romance. Oh, and try Vegan Virgin Valentine by Carolyn Mackler, its very good
