I was out of work for a week after my last job which only paid me $8 an hour. I now work for a temp agency, and I'm getting paid $11.50 an hour at Allstate Insurance. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing, it feels good cause I'm not broke anymore, at least for now. I'm hearing a lot of bad stuff about temp agencies but I don't know what is fact or fabricated fiction. This is my first time I've worked for a temp agency, and honestly, I didn't really know what a Temp Agency was when I sent my Resume and application through Monster and CareerBuilder.com. I still kinda don't fully understand what's going on. Can anyone tell me if I should work this job until it's over, or should I keep looking for a real job? I work during the week, so it will be hard to get to any interviews. Any advice in this area would be usefull. Thanks.

If you feel good about it, it's fine. Everyone has experiences with temp services, some good, some not so good. The reality is, if you are sharp and well spoken they always send you to their best clients. Sounds like what happened in this case.

If you don't think this job will turn into regular full time employment, keep getting your resume out there. Companies know that you have to watch out for yourself, and as long as you aren't taking a day off each week for an interview you should be fine. Also, tell potential employers that you would like to interview during early morning or lunch whenever possible, so you don't disturb too much time from your temp job. You may be surprised how flexible people can be if you just give them a chance.

Good luck!

Keep looking, if it is not a temp to permanent job you will be unemployed again. If it is a temp to permanent job be selective in your job search.
