It's a Desk jet 3740. The light won't stop flashing and I'm getting a mechanism error message that the printer cartridge cradle can't move. Only it does move. I've tried everything in the user's guide and nothing worked.
Please help if you can. I need to print out some specs tonight so my brother can fix my car. It's not working either.
*sigh*

Didn't work. Every time I plug it into the wall, the light starts flashing again.
Thanks for trying.
You too, Dick

Ink Jet??
Try cleaning the "registration strip" - the clear plastic strip that the print heads use to count pulses to tell it that it IS moving !
It has very fine lines on it, and an optical sensor to count them. Somw better printers also do 'self alignment - a blue light that shines on the paper to see where the ink is going ; to align the colors

CLEAN the inside really well!

Have you tried disconnecting the printer from the computer? I don't mean the power plug........there should be one or two connecting lines that go directly to the computer.

Unplug the connector(s) and wait one minute. Reinsert plugs and see if the printer will come up.

I would reinstall the drivers to the printer. Detach it from the computer, and see if it still has the same problem with power only.
