Considering the amount of work they have to prepare for every single day (arguing legislation and giving speeches), I think they're way too underpaid. $160,000 every year for the amount of work they do is like a cent for the amount of work they do.

Do you agree that politicians are underpaid?

I think they should be paid at least a million a year, like in sports.

For a bunch of people who sit around and lie I think they are over paid! Take at look our Chimpanzee in Chief we should pay him peanuts literally! I dont have to watch Animal Planet anymore I can just flip on Fox News Channel

I completely disagree. In addition to their salaries, they are often paid to speak and get incredible pensions - some $10K per month. Fantastic health care and they don't have to pay for most of their expenses.

Not to mention people like Cheney who gets millions a year in stock income and even has deferred stock in Haliburton.

Are you kidding me?

I'm not sure their federal salary is that big, but they get the best health insurance plan in the country, and they get to keep it forever! They also get whatever money corporations are willing to pay them to ignore it when those corporations break laws...and that can run into millions of dollars.

If they don't like the compensation, they are free to quit their jobs.

No, and I think they should be fined for frivolous political (not geographic) gerrymandering while we are at war.
