Johnny Cash, no doubt about it. Pick music from any part of his career, and it's all great, but in different ways. He continued to evolve as a performer, as a writer, as an artist throughout his career.

Waylon was a damn good one, too, now, I ain't knockin' hiim a bit, but, Johnny was one helluva hard act to follow. Both of 'em are greatly, greatly missed here, and I hope they're having a great time singing with Hank, June, Tammy and all the angels.

I liked them both, but my favorite out of both of them is Waylon Jennings. Did you hear about Johnny Cashs' house burning down yesterday the 10 of April? That was really horrible.

Well, I like 'em both but if I had to choose, I'd choose Waylon. Hands down. I can feel his music clear down into my soul. He does more "singing" in his songs than Johnny. Johnny does more of the "talking" thing. (But Lord does that man know how to talk??)

My favorites by these two are, of course, "Luckenbach Texas" by Waylon, and "Sunday Morning Coming Down" by Johnny. Throw in some of our friend Merle, a little Jim Beam, and we've got ourselves a party going on my friend!!!

I have enormous respect for both. However, I would have to say that, as a singer/songwriter, Johnny Cash steals the show. He was a legendary balladeer. He had a broad range that went from traditional country to outlaw to inspirational. One of his landmark acheivements was his last album, which reworked a selection of rock hits from recent years. His version of "Hurt" is one of the most haunting songs I have ever heard.

When It comes to Waylon, "Clyde" may have played electric bass, but Johnny played his heart out for the world to see!
