I had seen a movie a long time ago about a killer rat. I want to know the name of it. All I remember from the movie is that the rat was HUGE - only one and he killed the family's cat in the basement, and as the family was leaving, they opened their door to their bedroom to find the big rat on the bed staring at them - it was thundering & lightening out. Does anyone know the name of this movie??? Must I tell you - it's not Wilbur.

The name of the movie was "Nightmares" It was a movie consisting of four short-stories. It starred Emilio Esteves and Lance Henrickson. The fourth short story was called "Night Of The Rat" and had a giant rat living in the walls of this house. It killed the family's cat in the basement. The dad set a rat trap in the attic but only caught a small rat. The dad used the small dead rat to lure the monster rat through the bedroom and out the window into the stormy night. One of my favorite movies!
By the way, the rat stepped on the bed and broke it.

Could it be the 1972 movie Ben which was a follow up to Willard. Basicly young boy befriends "Ben" a rat but the rat turns evil and becomes a killer. Title music for the film was Ben by Michael Jackson which was a huge hit worldwide for him.

I believe you might be talking about 'Food Of The Gods' though. It has a big rat and his name's not Wilbur either ;-)
