Hi again everyone, i am back with more questions lol. I just read somewhere that you dont get the results of your 20 week ultrasound until your next apointment after the scan. is this true? Also i read that the Tech doing the ultrasounds were not allowed to say nething good or bad, or if somthing was wrong. Im a little confused now because the lady who did ours told us flat out everything looked fine, but i started thinking maybe she doesnt really know? that maybe the stuff has to be seen by another doctor before they tell you nething. Is any of this true? When will i find out if everythings ok? and why did she tell us things are fine, if maybe they arnt?

thanks,
A worried mom to be

I know that my Dr.'s office made sure that I could see the Dr. right after the scan, which isn't until the 27th of this month. It's scary and exciting. I'm sure if the technician sees anything wrong he/she will let your Dr. know and they will get you in asap to talk about anything. Don't worry until then!!! Congrats.

First of all don't worry!

If there was something wrong at your 20 weeks scan, they tell you immediately. My sister had an unfortunate experience with one of hers and they told her straight away, then flew her to the nearest city for more tests. The whole thing had a terrible outcome but the point is THEY TELL YOU THEN AND THERE!

That is the point of having one at that time. If there is something wrong, it is early enough to terminate the pregnancy as a couple of weeks after that, it is possible the baby could survive outside the womb.

The technicians are extremely well trained and know exactly what to look for...so any problems would be spotted by them, therefore you would not need to wait until a doctor reviews the scan results.

I am SURE everything is fine with your baby. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

From what I've heard and experienced, usually an ultrasound technician won't say much because they aren't the doctor, but if they say everything looks fine, you should be reassured that they didn't really see anything that looked bad. Usually if a doctor reviews the ultrasound and sees something that is not good news, they might actually call for you to come in before the next appointment. If you are really concerned, call the doctor and ask.

When I had my 20 week ultrasound, the technician went through everything and told me whether it looked normal or not. She looked at the umbilical cord, the chambers of the heart, the brain, etc. and told us that everything looked normal. I think that the doctor looks at the images extra carefully to make sure there is nothing that the technician missed. If the tech found something that looked severly abnormal, she would probably say something so that you could get with your doctor and get medical attention right away. There is always the possibility that something was overlooked, and that is why the doctor goes over them a second time.
If the technician said it all looked normal, I wouldn't worry. The doctor is a secondary precaution to make sure you and baby are healthy. :)

If it replaced into ninety 9.ninety 9% lady, they might have instructed her that that's almost actually a woman. They could not tell me at my 20 week ultrasound the two, yet i'm having a boy this time, and my pal replaced into instructed it might in all probability be a woman yet not for specific, and she or he only had yet another ultrasound which stated boy for specific, so sure, there continues to be particularly lots a 50/50 risk she would have a boy or a woman, actually from me and my acquaintances' journey! they does not neccesarily see something "putting" because of the fact infant in all probability had his legs tucked up, he would have had his bits "tucked in" particularly particularly if he's a boy. reliable luck to her besides, she'll be over the moon no count if she has a infant, you will see! x *Mummy to Alex, 7, Encarni, 2 and infant Dante due day after today!!*

The tech will tell you if they can tell the sex and if everything looks good they will tell you that but if something looks wrong most wont say anything as to not worry the parents until a Radiologist or the OB doctor has a chance to examine the ultrasound.
Every ultrasound is examined by the doctor or a Radiologist.

My ultrasound technician was extremely experienced with a long work history. They have to know what types of things to look for so that they can give measurements and pictures to the doctor. I can understand why they would hold off on potential bad news, you have more rapport with your regular doctor. My appointment was directly after my ultrasound and my doctor went over it with us then.

My Dr. is the one who did all of my ultrasounds and gave us the results as he was doing the ultrasounds, told my husband I that it was a boy and that everything looked good, right then and there.

the tech is not trained to read the scans, although many have been doing it for so long that they can tell if something is amiss but for them to actually interpret something and tell you would be considered outside of their job scope
