MSNBC stopped airing his show but, his radio show has (so far) not been cancelled altogether. I care because I watched the show before I went to work every morning. It's a great show! Not really because of Imus, but for whatever reason, the show had amazing guests. I often would wonder how Imus would get such good guests on that show but, he would! I am sad that Imus cant bite his tongue and learn to edit what he says because I cant watch him any more now. I understand why MSNBC pulled the plug on this show however, I do not feel Imus is a racist or sexist or anything else. He's been pushing the envelope for years with the way he talks and it ended up biting him in the butt only because he's gotten away with it for so long. If it was an issue, someone should have said something to him long ago. In any case, I will be sad that I cant watch my morning news show any more however, I feel that if Imus is being made an example of, then there are many more shows that need to have the plug pulled for the very same reason.

I don't care, never liked Imus anyway but I think it's a gross example of how PC our society has become. The remark was an offhanded joke, maybe in poor taste but he was just clownin dog! His parent company, NBC?, is making an example of him to appease the pressure from the activist groups.
At the very least the term "nappy headed ho" has a whole new status in the American lexicon.

I'll tell you what. Don Imus has given more of his own money to needy children,BLACK and WHITE, than Al and Jesse put together. He is a good man who has a good heart. His show is for laughs and he is by far, a lot tamer to black women than the rappers. No, he need not be fired. Its just another band wagon for Al and Jesse to hop on.

although he is in his own right a pioneer, i dont think it would matter to the general public if he were to be fired. of course this takes the focus here in new york away from the sean bell shooting and such, and its giving al sharpton a much needed boost within his own community its going to prove to be pointless in the end because no actual laws around obscenity were broken. although his moral compass was clearly pointing in the wrong direction, he did not do anything that would be worth of him being fired. much worse things have been said and people have resumed their employment. he will be suspended, then he will return to work. shortly after he will probably retire. i dont think theyll fire him officially though.

This is bad. Firing someone who is paid to give his opinion because one of those opinions are deemed by society to be "bad." I mean come on, what professions are open to this Speech Law, and what opinions violate this Speech Law. Can professors, who in the course of "teaching" call for a violent overthrow of our government, I have a prof who does. Or what about Ward Churchill calling innocents who worked in the WTC "little Eichmanns," thats the most offensive thing I have ever heard and I would never call for him to be fired for spouting that nonsense. We have a problem where people feel the need to utterly silence someone who says something they don't like, its a slippery slope and it has been going on for sometime. I just really hope no one, Republican or Democrat, who calls for his firing ever gets their fascist little self near the White House.

His show is all about him being an *ssho*e to people and making fun of people. Apparently some people like that, and they listen to him. I don't, but it's hard to say fire him and be all self-righteous when he's always been racist and sexist. Why now?
HOWEVER, the dejected hurt look of those Rutger women during their press conference was enough to tell me that he really did hurt them. So, yeah. I think he should be canned.

Too bad Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson cant be fired. But you need a job to get fired-something Sharpton or Jackson have never held.

I thinks its absolute crap. CBS won't stop playing rap songs with the same language of hate. So why fire a white DJ for using the same. This double standard needs to stop.
