haha, i wanted to get my helix pierced for a while too. then it was my conch, but now i'm over those and want to get a hoop in my tragus... heh. but anyways.
the deal that i have with my mom [who doesn't care for piercings] is that i can get them when i'm 16, since she's allegedly worried about me ending up allergic to the metal that they use. but she trusts me to either grow out of it or, by that time, know for sure that that's what i want. so i can't exactly empathize.
you probably won't be able to convince your mom that cartilage piercings aren't trashy-- lots of people have preconceptions like that that you just can't change, because they don't want to change. but what you can do is show her that you're responsible enough to take care of it [you do need to take care of piercings to keep them from being infected], and that you've done your research and this is what you really want. i hate to bring up the cliched "it's your body, you can do what you want to" argument, particularly because it's not always true, but...
just show her that you're responsible enough for it [after all, responsible and trashy don't go together very often] and that it's something that you really want. do your reasearch, find local piercing parlors with good reputations, have everything ready so that she doesn't have to do any work. and it could help to point out to her some "nice girl" friends & celebrities with their cartilage pierced... just keep her away from the trampy ones haha.

you may desire to enable your ears heal out of your failed piercing attempt previously getting them carried out. yet no, i do no longer think of that they had say something. i do no longer see why they does not do it, even if it is going to harm extra provided that's going to be dealing with scar tissue.

it does look trashy
it hurts
it gets infected way easier
and a lot worse
if you REALLY want one, wait until you are 18 and out of your mom's house
otherwise you will not be getting one.

How old are you? You can get a slip from Claire's if you're underage, and if you have her signature you can get it done. You could fake it. Otherwise idk, make examples out of classy people or friends that have it done. good luck
