For someone who's 60 years old yes, for a newborn NO!
I mean yeah you know these 60 year old women that are named Doris were once a newborn but back then it was okay to name them that, now-a-days it just sounds stupid for a baby.
See as the years went by, the world became in a better state of mind with choosing pretty names for babys, so now Doris would be like Ethel for a newborn.... you gotta choose something else!

I don't like it. Too Old sounding. Was their ever a child named Doris or did they all change their names to Doris when they were grown?

Its my grandmother's name and i'll admit it fits and older person better but I refuse to say its a bad idea. its much better than some of these crazy "i'm trying to be unique" names people name their kids not realizing they have to live with it the rest of their lives. But I do like Dori as a mdern day option.

Well, if that's your favorite, go with it, but, what about Dori or Dorey instead?

I agree with those who say it's too old-lady-ish, but I also think that about Hannah & Emma (Ugh-ly!), which are catching on with parents of little girls.
How about Doreen or Dorianne? :)

I don't like it at all. It sounds old fashion. I don't like these names much better but Dora, Doria and Dorthey are similar.
