..... actually owned one and are that clumsy or not owned one and are that naive? I've seen all types of riders forget which way the throttle turns and where the brakes are on all kinds of bikes. "The Doctor(I hope you know who that is)" will tell you that when he makes a mistake... he'd rather be on his MotoGP bike than a cruiser. There's a reason rockets resemble race bikes and it's not all about speed. The number one reason is control and handling = safety. You think they ride 'em 'cause they want to crash? "Forgiving". On a cruiser? Compared to a sport bike? If you can't control a sport bike which is the lightest, best handling, responsive, and safest thing on the road when handled with respect.......... then you have NO business being on any motorcycle.

I agree that in the right hands you can get out of trouble much easier on a sport bike. I've been riding and racing since I was a little kid and I still can't get used to the cruiser seating position. I goes against everything I've every learned about seating positions and weight transfer. I also believe that for a beginning rider neither a sport bike or a cruiser is a good choice. The power and brakes are too touchy for a novice and it is harder to balance a sport bike at low speeds which is where a lot of beginners drop their bikes. A beginner is better of with a standard bike that has a seating position more similar to a dirt bike. In this seating position it is easier for them to learn proper balance.

Look right into a Kawasaki Ninja 250r, Ninja three hundred, or Honda CBR 250r. These are all nice newbie motorcycles. They now have a nice seem that resembles their superb game race copy siblings and they are nice on fuel mileage. Any of those could have ample energy to hold you pleased mainly for a newbie. Plus the using kind isn't as overly competitive so they are extra forgiving to your frame as you study as good. I might strongly no longer advise going past the Ninja three hundred. This is how it is almost damaged down within the realm of game motorcycles. 250cc= reasonably sporty automobile. Ex: 350z, Subaru WRX 600cc= Exotic sporting events automobile. Ex: Lamborghini's, Ferrari's and many others.. Pretty rapid stuff 1000cc+= Formula one million. REALLY FAST STUFF. Keep it small to begin out with.

well i may not have the doctors riding skills but something i do have is his weight and his height. The doctor and me weigh around 58 kgs. With that weight you have to be out of ur mind to ride a cruiser like a vulcan 2000 i had trouble getting that bike outta parking let alone riding it..Sports bikes are much lighter and safer to ride for a man of my build thats if u show it the proper respect it deserves.

I have to agree with Bill B. They look uncomfortable and some people look more like they are humping it - not riding it. I've been riding all kinds of bikes for 37yrs now and I wouldn't even want to sit on one of those bikes. I don't think I would feel safe or totally in control driving anything where my feet were behind me. Sorry.

YEP YEP! Sportbikes are built precise for handling, speed, braking, and are verry quick, light, and agile! Im gonna go with the doctor on this one! I would rather be on a moto gp bike too!, but for now we have to settle for the next best thing wich is a factory sportbike! Im not complainin tho!!!

I've always believed sportbikes to be the best starter bikes for reasons similar to what you have given.
Braking, acceleration, and control are so much more responsive on a sportbike.
They are also lighter than their equivalent cc cruiser counterparts.

i'm just used to the way a cruiser handles. i'll admit i'd wind up endo'ing a gsxr in a hell of a hurry the way i'd roll on the gas at a light......out of habit. i'd be what u'd call a.......cruiser vet, but a complete sport bike noob. :)~~

I watched my mate get his left knee down on a 2 lane straight motorway tonight, (that'd be the interstate to the yanks) then he swerved the other way and got his right knee down! Can't shut him up now the show off, but fair play to him, I wouldn't of thought it possible!
Could you of done that on a cruiser?

I've never rode one and never will.They look ridiculous and I would be embarrassed to be seen on something that looks that silly.I was never a Power Rangers fan.Little kids might be impressed by them but I'm not.
