they're death from both a blend of climate, marvel, the shortcoming of those roots turning out to be out of the bucket, and planting on the incorrect time of year. attempt lower back to plant some timber about the third week of September, at the same time as it remains warmth yet no longer yet frost. the subsequent time you purchase the timber, search for ones no longer turning out to be out of the bucket. Take a second to study the bucket and holes of the bucket - small root fibers popping out of bucket - ok - massive roots popping out, no flow. examine the leaves for insect damage (mottled leaf colour is a robust indicator of insect damage, as well as holes in leaves). Blackened stems are a honest indication of a ailment, and also you got here upon that dry leaves factor out marvel. examine the timber you've now for brand spanking new leaf advance before chucking them. If the Crepe Myrtle has some eco-friendly, sparkling leaf buds alongside its branches, you're waiting to order it yet. Crepe Myrtles do flow dormant, so if this one has leaf buds taking position, plant it contained in the technique September at the same time as the elements cools a touch, and at the same time as digging that hollow attempt to dig a minimum of four ft down and chop up that complicated pan in case you are able to! be positive to position in some fertilizer on the bottom of the hollow before putting contained in the tree, and make positive you water it sturdy and deep until eventually the iciness rains come. there is not any shame in attempting to get a huge tree inexpensive. in elementary words shame that the nurseryman ought to provide you with a guaranty for he himself reducing off that root!

I don't think you should prune too much in the spring. I would not cut back any branches. Trim off any dead buds and leaves. Yes, they will come back if properly watered and fed.
