Uh I don't think it's actually been proven that the universe is expanding

There is nothing outside the universe - hence it being called, the Universe. That is all there is. As matter in the universe spreads out, it creates space. It is not expanding into something, there is no 'outside the universe' because there is nothing outside. there is nothing outside the universe, and i don't mean outside is a big black space, because you cannot go outside, there is no outside. THere is only inside, and what is inside is expanding, and so the universe is creating the space it is expanding into.

It's difficult to explain, and to comprehend, but there is no 'outside the universe' . It jsut doesn't exist. It is expanding through the matter spreading out, and as it spreads it creates more room for it to spread into.

Nothing. But let me qualify that. There is a big difference between space and nothing. Space has characteristics such as three spatial directions, gravitational warpage due to mass, Pi will equal 3.1415926… , etc. As the universe expands “space” is created within the universe at a quantum level and the universes boundaries “expand” into the nothingness.
