a certain AM station broadcasts at a frequency of 600 kHz. what is the wavelength of these radio waves, in meters?

ONLY if you are talking about radiowaves, does this apply...

k means 'times 1000', so 600 kHz is 600,000 Hz.

to convert to meters, you need to multiply the reciprocal of that by the speed of light (which is 3 * 10^8 meters/second)

3 * 10^8 / 600,000 = 500 meters

Right at 600 on your AM dial. The AM broadcast towers for 600 kHz are 1/4 wavelength antennas and are exactly 125 meters high. (In real life it would be either 590 kHz or 610 kHz -- there are no stations right at 600. I listen to sportsAM 610 sometimes.

Hz To Meters

It can't be done. Hertz is a unit of frequency and the meter is a unit of length. They can be related in a problem, but one cannot be converted to the other.
Why don't you email me a copy of the problem you're dealing with and I'll answer it. I suspect you want to know the wavelength, in meters, of an electromagnetic wave traveling at the speed of light when it has a frequency of 600kHz. Can you confirm? My email is

Herz is a measure of frequency. 1 Hz means 1 vibration or cycle per second.
In order to find distance between pulses, you need to know how fast the wave or pulse is traveling. You did not give that information.
kHz means 1000 pulses per second.
600 kHz = 600000 Hz

Amplitude is not related to frequency or period. There is not enough information to say. The answer is D.
