In my college algebra class we are doing cube routes, 4th routes and 5th routes... I only have a square route button. Does anyone know if there is a cube route key on the TI-83? It would be very helpful. Thanks.

I don't think there is a cube root or any higher root keys.

You can do, for example, for a cube root of a number,

^ ( 1 / 3 )

and for 5th root,

^ ( 1 / 5 )

Using a property between exponents and roots, you can convert one to another.

I don't have a TI-83, but I've had several TI calculators over the years. Most of them have an Xy (X to the Y) key on them, which raises X to the Yth power. Using INV does the reverse, taking the Yth root of X. So, to get the cube root (not route) of 7 do:

7 INV Xy 3 =

That should work.

You don't have to use the cube root button, just use ^(1/3)

that way works all the way up: ^(1/4) = fourth root, and so on...

Most calculators don't use this equation: n ^(1/3)
and n^(1/4) and (1/5) work.. all the way up.
