I'm pretty sure my paranoid boss has installed spyware on our machines to keep an eye on how much time we spend surfing the web at work and which sites we go to, etc.

Is there a way to confirm or detect the program? Is there some way to disable it?

Snoop programs are legal. You have no right as an employee to object to it, or to disable it. In all likelihood you cannot disable it, and you certainly can't disable it without it being noticed. Moreover, you can (and probably will) get fired for tampering with it. Tough noogies. I'm always amazed at employees who just don't get it. You make a deal with the employer. You do what you're told, and they pay you for it. What is it about this that you don't understand? If you only want to work part time, go get a part time job.

No there is no way to confirm, detect or disable the program these type of programs are white listed by anti-spyware programs, and won't show up no matter what you use to try to detect them.

If you did find a way to disable it he would easily detect that you did and at the least fire you, even possibly have you arrested for hacking his computer system.

Your paranoid boss has every right to install any program he wishes on your work computer, he owns it doesn't he.

Your work computer is for work purposes only and you have no right to privacy on it.

You should expect nothing less then your employer monitoring everything you do on your work computer.

It is surprising and somewhat scary how many employers do.

Already, 76% of companies monitor employees' website connections. As it passes through the server, the web site, time, computer used, user name, and user password are logged. In addition a copy of each email is made.

If the company installed monitoring software on your computer, removing it will only serve to make them suspicious as to you activities and motives for doing this.

Many companies also monitor phone conversations.

Your employer has an every right to tell you what you can and can't do on his/her computer. Doing anything to circumvent them may land you in trouble. I wouldn't recommend it.

With that said, look at the task manager to see what is running.

check the task manager (control+alt+delete) and see if there are any suspicious programs...also go through the control panel 'add or remove programs'...that will list the programs on the computer...some spyware is hardware based (like sonicwall) so there's not much you can do about that...good luck

Try AdAware SE or tell your boss your a good worker and you're not looking at sites he doesn't want you to. Tell him about a firewall.
