the reactants react to make products

R--->P

See how the reactants are on left?

4 NH3(g) + 5 O2(g)--->4 NO(g) + 6 H2O(g)

NH3 and O2 are reactants
NO and H2O are products

Assuming you mean "reactions," the equation is the reaction. The left side has the reactants going into the reaction and the left side has the products.

Obviously, if you mean "reactants," they are on the left.
