Are you sure the person isn't suffering from depression? That happens a lot when a person is depressed. Ask this person if everything is okay with them because you've noticed that they aren't keeping care of themselves properly. If they are just being dirty, then you can tell them that you can't be around them due to their lack of cleanliness, but in a way that won't totally offend them.

Failing all eventualities......"you smell & have BO usually works!!" I agree that the "child" option may be a good one...kids will speak the truth!
P.s I think Hubby should take this on board!

It's not your place to say anything to them, you're just going to cause problems. Let your husband say something to them since it is his side of the family. How is it affecting you besides the smell? Don't let it get to you. Even though you feel the need to say something and get a rise out of someone, it's not worth it. You're gonna be known as a b*tch if you do. I believe in being blunt, but not when it's with my husband's side of the family since I don't want to cause a stupid argument or hostility. It's not worth it to me.

NO dont say anything, it will bring more trouble then its worth. Just spray yourself with loads of perfume so that you can hardly smell anything else and then just remember the night will be over soon and they will be gone

Just tell them that they need to take a bath. There is absolutely no excuse for an adult to have such poor hygiene.

Jokingly stick your foot in their face and ask them if they think it smells good or bad, then roll with the punches to get the message across

How gross to only bath once a week. I can't imagine people not wanting to keep clean. Water and soap isn't expensive. Talk with your husband and ask him if they have always done this. I would think it would be wise not to mention hygiene with them unless you are close.
