Hydroplaning is caused by going fast enough that the tyres are actually floating on a thin layer of water, not the road. You cannot prevent it 100%, but you can stack the deck in your favour. Always make sure you have lots of tread. No tread means water will not be moved away. Slow down when the road is wet, or no tyres will touch the ground at all. NEVER leave the cruise control on in wet conditions.

a vehicle hydroplanes because it looses traction from the road, because the tread in the tires and the texture of the road.and the speed... all are all together. if you have tires with no tread, and no grooves to channel the water out from it,it will be just on top of the water, and not the highway. the water will be between the tire and surface. slow down,if no good tread on the tires. and the more weight of the vehicle also makes a difference. the heavier the vehicle the harder it is to let the water sepurate the tire from the highway..

hydroplaning happens when a car is travelling on wet level roads. when you build up enough speed, your tires lose traction, like in drifting. as they lose traction, an airplane type effect happens. you begin to take off, but since you have no wings, the car flips over. drive slower to prevent or get rain tires

When the water is too deep for the thread to wipe it away, the car will float on top of the water and then you are riding on water and the car will lose control.

bad tires..no place for the water to go, usually into the treads
