Unforgiven by far. It's more historically accurate and the character development far surpasses most other movies. When it comes to westerns, no other director is in Clint Eastwood's league.

Unforgiven since it is not trying to deal with a real event.
Tombstone has the immediate problem of trying to correct itself with history. There were two hotly debated sides in the incident. I doubt either side were heroes plus the Earp saga has been done over so much, it is hard to rate it anywhere near an Eastwood movie

Unforgiven, definently not only was it directed by Clint Eastwood it also won Best Picture. If you ever get a chance to watch the special features on the 2 disc they're pretty good

The movie Tombstone was actually pretty close to the truth, with some minor changes. ie: the gang was not called "The Cowboys". Doc Holliday didn't really kill John Ringo. Wyatt didn't wait till he split up with his "wife" before getting together with Josephine. There's no mention of the other Earp brother. The fact is, many of the lines were quoted from Wyatt Earp's only authorized biographer. ( His last name was Stirling.) Most of the changes were more for artistic and directorial reasons than anything else.

Both are great movies, but I'd have to go with Unforgiven.

Unforgiven. When you deal in myth, things go all screwy (which it did with "Tombstone")
