I've got 2 rabbits that need to be fed and watered twice a day, and 3 cats that need to be checked. And a bird to feed and water too. My dogs are going to be boarded. And water the garden in the evening.
I was thinking of offering her $10 per day. She only has to drive across town, but she has to come over twice a day. Is that a reasonable offer?

We live in a small town. It take more time for me to get in my car than it does for me to drive to her house.
The thing that will take the longest is to water the garden at night, maybe 30 minutes at the most.
I will not change my rabbit's feeding schedule.
And I'll be gone for a week.

I usually pay someone $25 a day to feed both my dogs 2 times a day and water my garden 1 time a day. With the price of gas and everything you should really think about how much she is helping you out. How long is all the chores going to take her 2 times a day? 1 hour? 2? I would base it at $10-15 an hour and go from there. Remember the person is coming out of their way to help you and being paid well is the bonus, regaurdless if they are your friend they are giving up their time to help. If you can't afford the $20, buy them something nice like a sweatshirt or something and give them the lower rate.

I think that $10 is a little low. You said she has to drive across town. At the price of gas right now depending on where you live and what she drives , $10 just might be her gas money only. Birds can be left for a couple days alone if they have plenty of fresh water and food, so the rabbits are the only ones that really have to be checked on. As far as the cats are concerned, fresh water and dry food and they are fine also. You should invest in the dishes that dispense water and food fresh daily and that will leave the concern for the cats out. Same with the birds. For my cats I always had a small dogie door for them to go in and out of.... Then ask her if she would be willing to take the rabbits to her house. Do you have a nice pen for them or an old play pen to put them in and maybe she will consider keeping them at her house.... then $10 might be OK for checking on the others every other day

Try to take the $$ it would take in gass to drive over and back and then tripple it. I've had someone pay me $20-40 for 2 weeks with one rabbit at my house. Since your friend will be coming over 2 times a day I would pay a little extra. Also, if you are going to be gone longer, then you might want to figure in a little more since it's more of a commitment.
If you have some time, you could change your rabbits so that they can be fed one time a day, which would probably really help your friend. They will do fine on one feeding, if you just slowly switch them like over 3-4 days then they will be fine with it.
Hope this helps!

I got $20 to feed and water a dog and three cats so maybe $25. But that was for a week i think $10 is fair.

It also depends upon how long you are gone, as feeding twcie a day is a big committment for someone to do for you. I would say that the $10 per day is a minimum, but reasonable.

Where I am the RSPCA which i think is similar to the SPCA in the U.S. board animals and its the least expensive option. I am not sure that your local facilities will be the same. We also have local stud breeders here too that will happily board Guinea Pigs for a small fee as long as they have a home and food provided. To be honest unless the shelter has Guinea Pig experience they are better off with people who know them and know what they need.

Well it depends how long you're gonna be gone. If i were you i think you should pay her between $20 and $30 for all of those animals.

Yes, but it depends on how long youre going to be on vacation. But i would say about $15 per day, since she has to water your lawn every single day.

Yes, she is a friend and the idea that she is excepting money for her time is nice. The idea that you are willing to pay her for your time is also nice. Ten a day should be just fine! Have fun on your vacay!
