The newest battery chargers have a battery recondition mode. It sends out electrical "pulses" to the cells to break up oxidation that collects on the plates. After the pulse stage, the charger brings the voltage back up slowly to the correct level. This process takes 24 hours or so. Keep in mind that all batteries have a lifespan, no matter what.

The best way is to remove the battery from the car and charge @ 2 amps for a long (12) hrs. period of time. New battery chargers have both standard and automatic charge rates. The beauty of the automatic rates is the charger senses the battery's needs for less amperage as it nears full charge. In other words the charger will not over charge and boil the water / acid dry.

Your choices are battery charger or running it in your car so the generator charges and also be sure you have good acid in it or it will keep loosing the charge quicker. Never store a battery on cement it weakens it.

Electric battery charger. solar charger and of course just letting the car alternator charge it. There are other methods such as a gas powered generator but not always user friendly.
