My boyfriend is finishing up his pre-reqs for nursing. Since there are so many schools with waiting lists we thought it might be good for him to apply a few places in California. We live in Utah but have family in Monterey County. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

There are quite a few really good JC's out here, with good nursing programs. You don't say what part of Monterey County you'd be in, but here are my suggestions:

Cabrillo College in Aptos (could work if you're in North County)
Gavilan College in Gilroy (good for North/East County)
Hartnell Community College in Salinas (East County)

I can tell you from personal experience that Cabrillo's nursing program is quite thorough, and highly respected.

I labored with plenty of Philippine nurses within the US. I by no means had a drawback with the RN's as some distance abilities and competencies used to be worried. If any factor they had been too take cost and really pushy. The LVN's had been poorly educated within the Meds. They stuck on speedy adequate to a brand new ceremonial dinner to serve however I did see a few critical errors. Training within the US does now not deliver you virtually the latest medications as they look to come back from Europe after 7 years checking out. But you are going to be trained the average pharmacopoeia. You come into touch with tremendously expert running shoes and paintings with one of the crucial worlds fine technological know-how and Doctors. There are plenty of doorways open to the RN in America. Lots of unique process presents in unique fields than health center care too.

Well, if you are looking for just a basic school to get a nursing degree from, he could try Fresno State. It is right smack in the middle of the Central Valley.
