Okay so, i have 2000 pesos. I went to a currency exchange place to get my *Money*, and they said it was outdated. My mother said maybe it was because the money changed. I agreed, since its dated 1985. But she also said what if she went to mexico back then and exchanged money and now she wants it back? she said maybe there is another way to get it exchanged. Can someone please tell me where to get it done (im in northern MI.) Or why we cant? Whats the deal of 'outdated'? Please and thanks.

The 2000 peso banknote you have (with portrait of Justo Serra) has been demonetized as of 1 January 1996.
In 1993, Mexico remonetized and 1000 old pesos became 1 new peso. The largest denomination currently in circulation is a 1000 peso note with a portrait of Hidalgo on it.
Here is a link to the Banco de Mexico web site, showing photos of all current and demonetized banknotes. Even if the 2000 peso note was still valid, it would have a face value of 2 new pesos, or about 18 cents US.

If you cant get any answers from your local bank. Being as you are in Northern Michigan, ask some of the summer farm help.

There are mexicans that work on Farms there, that have Cherries, Apples and Asparagus .. you could find someone that can translate for you unless you are good in spanish and ask them about the money. Did it change over and how you might get it exchanged. You are bound to fine someone that knows something ..

You never know, they may have some good information to enlighten you!

I would start with the Bank first though. They are suppose to have the answers on money issues.
