Add:
- 1 over 8 + (- 1 over 6)
which is
(-1/8)+(-1/6)
Find a common denominator to add fractions. you can multilpy 8*6.

Multiply first fraction by the denominator of the second fraction

(-1/8)*(6/6)
which is (-6/48)

Then multiply the second fraction with the denominator of the first fraction:

Divide:
-4 over 7 divided by (5 over 14)
which is
(-4/7)/(5/14)
To divide a fraction you need to multiply the first fraction with the reciprocal of the second fraction.
First Fraction stays as it is
(-4/7)
Second fraction is
(5/14) the reciprocal means to switch the denominator and numerator.
Reciprocal of (5/14) is (14/5)

Now, you just multiply top with top and bottom with bottom like this:
(-4/7)*(14/5)
which gices
(-56/35)
wwe can simplify it to
(-8/5) by diving both numbers by 7.
(-8/5) is the answer.

I hope I could help you with these explanations.

(-1/6)*(8/8)
which is (-8/48)

Now that we have a common denominator we can add this fractions:
(-6/48) + (-8/48)
Add the nominators of each fraction and you get
(-14/48) -6+-8=-14. When to negatives are added together the answer is negative.

Now we can simplify the fraction to dividing both numbers by 2 and we get (-7/24).

For the addition get them to common denominator. I'd use 24 and add -3/24 + (-4/24) = -7/24

For division of fractions: You "flip" the divisor to get its reciprocal and proceed as in multiplication. So, your problem, -4/7 divided by 5/14 becomes
-4/7 x 14/5 = -56/35 = -1 21/35 = -1 3/5

-1/8+(-1/6) first find the common denominator which is 24

-1/8=-3/24
-1/6=-4/24

= -7/24

-4/7 / 5/14 take the reciprical of 5/14 which is 14/5 and multiply

-8/5

-1/8 -1/6
find the common denominator (in this case 48) and multiply bottom by whatever to get 48 as well as the top.
so it's
-6/48 - 8/48 = -14/48
then simplify it
-7/24

(-4/7) / (5/14)
just inverse the second fraction since it's division
-4/7 * (14/5)
multiply top and bottom while simplifying to get
-8/5

-1/(8+(-1/6))
-1/(7+5/6)
-1/(47/6)
-6/47

-4/(7/(5/14))
-4/(7*14/5)
-4/(98/5)
-4*5/98 (division is not associative)
-20/98
-10/49
The following answers are probably correct as well. (I did not check them) The proper "order of operations" is masked by your non standard way of stating your expressions so I put parenthesis around the expressions to show the way most computer languages would parse them.
By the way, this is properly called arithmetic (a subset of mathematics).

(-1/8) + (-1/6)
(-1/8)*6 + (-1/6)*8
(-6/48) + (-8/48)
-14/48

(-4/7) / (5/14)
(-4/7) * (14/5)
-56/35
