The Common Task Test (CTT) is developed annually to promote hands-on training and evaluation of critical battlefield survival skills appropriate to a soldier's rank. Common tasks are trained and evaluated using the two Soldier's Manuals of Common Tasks (STP21-1-SMCT, Skill Level (SL) 1, and STP 21-24 -SMCT, (SL 2-4).

The TAAS, or Texas Assessment of Academic Skills, was a primary education standardized test used in Texas between 1991 and 2003, when it was replaced by the TAKS test. Prior to 1990, the test was known as the Texas Educational Assessment of Minimum Skills, or TEAMS (including the Texas Assessment of Basic Skills before 1985). It was used from grades 3 to 10, at which point if the student passed he or she no longer needed to take the exam. A pass at the 10th grade level was required for graduation, but many opportunities for retesting (on different test versions) were available. The last highschool graduating class brought up during the existence of TAAS was the class of 2004. the TAAS tested 3 areas of proficiency: reading, writing, and math. The math and reading sections consisted of multiple choice , while the writing section consisted of a series of prompts for which essays had to be written

In the state of Texas the TACS stands for the Texas Assessment of Comprehensive Skills and is studied and reviewed year-round by each student. Testing begins in the second grade and is administered up to the 11th Grade. (Seniors and 1st graders get a break). This is also the test that determines whether the student will advance on the next higher grade. (They are given 3 chances to pass). They "tossed the TAAS" here in Texas due to public demand. It was a much harder exam and the success level was low and tax exempts were given to schools with higher ratings.
