I dont think it shoudl be...

Is just not natural, I respect gay people and everything, but you have to admit it, is just not natural..

Plus why to get in so much trouble? Do you need a judge to tell that you can be together with the person you love?
Stop defying society, live your live and spend your time with you lover, instead of loosing it with this useless cause.

Because if you make one rule for heterosexual and another for homosexual then you devalue both as human beings. It is a declaration that there is a difference. Now, you can say that there is a difference, and obviously there is a physical one. But is there an emotional one? Love is love.

Isn't it a case that they just don't believe that two people of the same sex can feel the same way about each other as a man and a woman. Why? Because they see an emotional difference. They make gays less than straights. If you start that then where do you stop? At the gates to the concentration camp?

We have taken the world to war to stop ideas like that.

1: We are citizens just like anyone else, we deserve the right to ACCESS legal marriage in the way that is appropriate to us as gay/lesbian couples.

2: Less divorce because we're not forced to feel as if we have to marry someone of the opposite gender to gain benefits afforded only to opposite gender couples.

3: Disposition of Estate

4: Childcare and child wellfare

5: Taxes

6: Health Care directives outside of a legal marriage are usually contested or confronted.

7: Living wills outside of a legal marriage are too easily contested by outside family members.

8: The right to live with your partner in a long-term health facility or nursing home if needed.

Actually there are over a thousand REASONS:

Because no one cares about it other than people who follow the Bible (or people who are just plain homophobic). Religion and politics should not mix and that's a reason why gay people should be allowed to be married. I was "allowed" to marry my boyfriend in a court house and we did it only so I could get his health insurance. Neither one of us is a 'believer' and our 'marriage' had nothing to do with God since he's an atheist and I'm agnostic. If gay people can't be married, atheists and agnostics shouldn't be allowed to be married either.

What kind of country are we living in where I was allowed to get a "sham" marriage for insurance reasons just because I am a female who married a man? Does that seem like something 'sacred' to you?

Because gays and lesbians are people too. If you loved someone so dearly that you want to be legally connected to them then you should be able to. I relate this situation with others where an African-American man cannot marry a Caucasion woman. The current U.S. goverment is denying American citizens the right to love and become legally bonded. This is an ethical issue that needs to be dealt with an open mind and without religious bias.

Because in today's open society it is ridiculous to ban gay marriage. We claim to have seperated church and state, but what are the winning arguments?!?! Because "it goes against God" or "because marriage is a scared ritual (rituals are religion) between a man and a women"...says who? Or another argument...because that's how it always is, or its the law, um slavery used to be the way it was and it used to be illegal to marry somebody outside of your own race, does that mean we should go back to those stupid laws as well!!! Marriage is a commitment to the person you love, it offers great tax benefits and it should be legal for EVERYBODY who is in love!!!

They are people too, and it would be discriminating to disallow gay marriage.

My opinion is if two people really love each other then they have the right to marry.

I believe in evolution, so just because gay marriage has not been seen as the norm for 1000s of years, it needs to be seen as an option.

Because that would make it consistent. When you setup "special" rules, laws, etc. you get loopholes.

Companies wouldn't have "domestic partner" special circumstances for people who ONLY have to "sign" a paper SAYING that they're gay. Gay people would ACTUALLY have to submit to ALL the same rules, good or bad.

Want to split up? Have to get divorced, and lose half your belongings.

Want insurance? Have to be married.

Want to visit your sick "partner"? If you're married the family can't keep you out.

etc. etc. etc.

It makes an even and equal playing board, AND you don't have to think about the protests for or against it. Churches would have to figure it out for themselves, I'm talking about legal "marriage".

Because it's time to stop treating us like second class sitizens.

What are some 'good' reasons that same sex marriage should not be legal??

2007-04-11 09:54:16 · answer #9 · answered by jasgallo 5 · 2 1

Because there's no good reason for it not to be. Seriously if churches ***** about homosexuality and marriage then they should go after other sinners such as adulterers(one of the commandments as I recall is though shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife) and people that engage in premarital sex and not to mention those evil evil people that get divorces, it should all be illegal, throw them in jail, deny them their rights.

I'm all for the freedom of religions to deny to marry us in their churches, but I want freedom to marry under law because it's normal.

I live in a free country, I should be allowed to marry whomever I want, so long as it's consensual(note for those that wanna argue kids and animals, neither can actually consent under law).

Give me one reason why shouldn't it be...
(Here's a response to all what homophobes say about marriage)
1- "Marriage is for making kids": So let's ban infertile couples (Or those who don't want children) from getting married.
2- "Homosexuality is not natural": Check out your info about scientific discoveries about homosexuality in nature.
3- "Homosexuals only want sexual pleasure". Do we? We're people with emotions and we do fall in love, and we do have sexual desires like everyone else.
