I wouldn't say you are wasting your time because higher education will open more doors for you. However, because of the constant advertising and some bad press, a degree from UoP probably won't help as much as a degree from another school. Also, there are plenty of schools that are cheaper.

Fort Hays State University, a regionally accredited state school in Kansas has a few undergraduate degrees for $134 per credit hour. http://www.fhsu.edu/virtualcollege/

Peru State University, a regionally accredited state school in Nevada also has a few undergraduate degrees for $130 per credit hour. http://www.peru.edu/offuttafb/degreeprograms/onlinelearning.htm

University of Wyoming has a few undergraduate programs for $137 per credit hour. http://outreach.uwyo.edu/ocp/

University of Alabama also has a few undergraduate programs for $155 per credit hour for independent study and $240 per credit hour for online interactive courses.

American Public University, a regionally accredited school, has over 100 degree and certificate programs available online for $250 per credit hour including books.

If you really want to pay $400 per credit hour, Penn State has about 50 degree programs online. Yes, it is the Penn State.

Finally, if you can go to Cambridge, MA for two consecutive semesters, i.e. Spring and Summer. You can even get a degree from Harvard almost entirely online.

Good luck

Before you send ONE PENNY to University of Phoenix, you should read the article published in the Sunday New York Times for Feb 11, 2007. It explains a lot about the reasons why U of P is not a respected institution.

Do yourself a favor and look up this article. You'll be glad you did.

One of me best friends completed her bachelor's through University of Phoenix and has nothing but wonderful things to say about it.However, you must be very disciplined and able to work independently.

It is VERY expensive in comparison to a public college, though. You may want to check and see if any of your local colleges offer online classes(most offer at least some). It would be alot less money.

Many schools and jobs think that UOP is a substandard education and will not accept their credits. Their education may be good but the spamming and constant ads make people uneasy. I decided to get a degree from a brick mortar school online. I chose Ellis college of NYIT you should check it out.
