as i drive down the road my rpm needles wiggles all over the place it doesnt go all the way into the redline area thankfully. it doesnt rev up either, it was dying when it would go to zero but i had the coolant temp sensor replaced and it stopped dying, but it stills wiggles like crazy. it also has probs statring as it will start and die for a while, then starts up. the biggest problem is that it only does this sometimes then will run fine sumetimes.

The tachometer (rpm indicator) is driven off of the signal from the ignition coil. If the coil is breaking down electrically the gauge will do what its doing for you. It wll also cause the car to lose power (not rev up) and die out as you have a very weak spark at the spark plugs and it doesn't burn the gas completely or efficiently.

the coil is very easy to change and you'll need to do so very soon so that you don't break down.

hope that helps
