How about a "ladybug" theme? Gentle greens, accented by reds and a ladybug wallpaper border. Cute, and not too girly.

I have a friend who decorated her nursery in black and cream toile and CHARTREUSE! It's beautiful! It's hard to describe, but it looks really light and airy.
A few other interesting colors schemes that I've seen are Chocolate brown and turquoise blue
Mink brown and coral pink

I went with a sea theme and painted the walls a pale turquoise. Not a lick of pink in there. You get enough of that in their clothes. I haven't heard any complaints from my daughter, but then she's only 6 months old. :-)

i'm no longer constructive about "effortless" yet you may want to apply somewhat of purple: * gentle aqua blue * a gentle yellow * dwindled eco-friendly or sage * chocolate brown * cream/off white with vivid shade accents * lilac or gentle lavendar- no longer purple it extremely is darkish * a gentle stone or gray it extremely is person-friendly usually with chocolate or gray human beings do a 1/2 wall of it- like a chair rail to floor deal, and then %. a softer shade that coordinates like purple or a blue or different shade to do the accurate of the wall in. in case you do not have a chair rail you are able to mark the wall properly and get a attractive border to do the position the chair rail would were. i'd %. your subject and are available across some well-liked products for the subject first and then come across a shade interior the products it extremely is effortless and get a shade journey from that. then you comprehend you're subject and shade scheme and would fill in with more suitable confusing products like bedding, furniture and extra products of decor as you pass to flesh out the room and the look you opt to create. for my area i love the chocolate on the bottom with the purple on accurate and a blend of aqua, purple and mint with the chocolate stripes for a chair rail and the chocolate with purple bedding utilizing the aqua and purple as such issues as pillow, throw blankets and rugs... yet i comprehend that could no longer unavoidably each man or woman's cup of tea. :) have interesting and experience that new toddler!

Light purple! I just love that color. I was going to paint my daughter's room with the bottom of the wall's purple and the top left white with a flower border going around the middle. That way you don't get to much of one color.

I like lilac and pale green with lots of white. It's more calming than pink, but still kind of girly.
Congratulations!

Lime green and Lilac - such a nice contrast.
I made my daughter's room periwinkle with yellow stars painted above the doorways and the word "dream" above her bed.

I quite like that pale yellow color. It would go along with pink and there are a lot of bedding accessories that are available with both colors.
