Love - Shakespeare (sonnets), Petrarch (sonnets again), Elizabeth Barrett Browning (How do I love thee? Let me count the ways)

Religious - John Dunne, Anne Bradstreet, William Blake

Inspirational/Political Poetry - Bob Dylan, Maya Angelou, W.H. Auden (definitely look up Unknown Citizen)

Historical - only thing I can think of is to look up epics......since they tend to be loosely 'based' on an event (ex. the Iliad)...........could also look up Midnight Ride of Paul Revere by Longfellow

Children's - Shel Silverstein, Dr. Seuss
