'I'm not a racist but'. Don't they all start off by saying that. Anyway doesn't matter what colour those types in the shopping mall are, if they look like they're up to no good maybe they might eventually get up to no good, or maybe they just want somewhere to hang around.

Being Asian myself and having lived on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, and Melbourne, I have definitely had a good experience on where and why people tend to be racist. In under-educated regions, people tend to be more racist because they're under qualified and are not able to find jobs, and so they play the blame game, particularly on immigrants. So that's extremely common on the Gold Coast. Brisbane and Melbourne are a different story, more educated people, less racism. It's a very blunt viewpoint but it's also true. The university of Melbourne is something you will NOT have to worry about. Asians generally swarm the highest ranking universities, in other words, they are EVERYWHERE in Uni of Melb - so you'll be just fine!

Yeah, I know. Some people believe because the TV says a certain thing about a certain group of people, then ALL those people must be that way. TV is a very dumb way to get your information about different races of people. It seems like the news media feeds and promotes racism, sexism, ethnocentrism, homophobia, and general all around hatred for anything "different", but racism especially.
I believe that most people who are racist do not know anyone of that race, so the easiest thing for them to do is to believe what's on TV. Sad and ignorant.

She is a racist. If she wasn't, she would've phrased her concern as stating that the neighborhood isn't all that great and she would prefer that when her daughter hung around her friends that she would be careful. But she stated "those types".
There are criminals and insane people of every nationality, and color. When she made that statement, you should've inquired about her negativity towards asians, It's wrong!

Unfortunately there are lots of people like your boss. When I work with people like her, I keep the subject matter light and off contentious topics. I also keep my distance socially.
The other thing to think of is that she may just be a product of her upbringing or maybe she had a bad experience - feel sorry for her and just get on with your work.

she says she is not racsist does she? Tells lies as well then. Are you short or fat or spotty or tall or thin? She probably is biased against one or more of these things as well because she wants us all to be the same.
I am a white, middle aged mother and grandmother and I have met nice people, horrible people, daft people etc etc but I did not ever judge them by their colour, religion, age, sexuality or anything other than whether I liked them or not !!

Ok, well, she's full of crap for one, and for two, it takes too much energy and intelligence to NOT judge people and group them all together and label them. It's uncivilised to think that you're better than anyone else based on the color of one's skin and where their family history comes from. Ignorance.

Well, she lied to you!!!!!!
I agree with you. It's exactly with the point that people say Islaam and Terrorism....... that's a contradiction!!!! Islaam CAN'T be associated with terrorism, because they don't mix. It's like try mixing petrol with milk. It don't work.
You see a asian, he commits murder. And then BANg, you label all asians as murderers, and beat up your child for having asian friends. It's like, what on earth is wrong with you dude!!!!
People are too ignorant. They act quickly without thinking. Stupid blasted blinded dysfuntional fools.
Stop being racists and labelling people like that!!!!
Think properly and don't act without thinking!!!!
Have some sympathy!!!
Save trees, eat beavers dude!!!

Funny that I thought it was muslims that didnt want their kids to hang out with non-muslims, and marriage as such is treated with honour killings.
But i guess thats the white mans fault right?
