Help! I keep finding tiny holes in the front of my cotton shirts. I don't understand how this is possible. I have noticed that this only happens to my cotton shirts.

Before you tell me that moths are eating my shirts, you need to know one important fact. The holes keep appearing in the same area of each shirt! In other words, all of these holes on all of these shirts appear on the front of the shirt just below my belly button. How is this possible?

I can't figure this out. If it's moths, how do they know to eat the same area of the shirt? Is my belly button emitting some kind of chemical that attracts them? I thought moths only eat wool.

Maybe it's from my seatbelt. If so, what can I do to stop this?

Maybe I'm leaning up against something that has been treated with a cotton-eating chemical. Could it be from my hot tub, from the bathroom sink, from the washing machine?

Why only shirts? Why only cotton? Why under my belly button?

If its in the same area each time I would assume it is probably your seat belt rubbing against it. They do sell seat belt covers at Wal-mart and it sounds like it would be a good investment for you. Chemicals and your washer would not eat at the same place on your shirts each time..

LOL! Great, now you'll have me checking my and my dh's shirts. One thought is zipper getting caught or at least rubbing on the fabric. Also button or clasp at waist. If you suspect zipper/button, tuck your shirts into your underwear and see if you get a hole in your drawers too. I assume no belly piercing which would also rub on the fabric.

Good idea to check the seat belt. Might be a rough spot somewhere.

If you are washing with chlorine products or working around a like chemical you could be getting splashed or leaning onto the treated stuff.

Check counters/desks for a rough spot that you might be rubbing up against.

Moths eat any natural fabric, zeroing in on the areas with body oils first......that is uncleaned garmets. But they don't pick on just one site.......so it's a matter of wear and tear at the belly button site......time to start paying attention.

I read it called "pant hose syndrome" the cotton fibers are weak and give way, like a run in your nylons
